Painting with Purpose: Using Art to Give Back

Painting with Purpose: Using Art to Give Back

As an artist, I’ve always believed a painting can do more than fill a wall. It can tell a story, start a conversation, and sometimes, make a real difference in people’s lives.

One of the most meaningful ways I’m able to do that is by donating artwork to local nonprofit organizations so they can auction the pieces to raise funds for their missions. Supporting the community that supports my art is something I care deeply about.

Recently, I had the privilege of donating an acrylic painting titled “Rusty Bug,” inspired by the timeless character of a vintage Volkswagen. The textures, patina, and history in old vehicles fascinate me, and this piece was especially fun to bring to life on canvas.

The Angel Art Auction

Rusty Bug found its way to the Andrea Rose Foundation through the annual Angel Art Auction held in Akron. The event brings together artists, supporters, and community members for an evening focused on hope, generosity, and impact.

Knowing that something created in my studio could help generate resources for individuals in need is incredibly humbling. Once a painting leaves my hands and becomes part of a fundraiser, it takes on a life far bigger than I ever imagined while I was working on it.

Why Giving Back Matters to Me

Local nonprofits are the heartbeat of a community. They step in where help is needed most, often quietly and without recognition. If my work can play even a small role in helping them continue that effort, it’s an easy yes.

Art has given me opportunities, connections, and friendships. Donating pieces is one way I can return that gift.

Thank You

To everyone who bids, attends, sponsors, or organizes these events — thank you. Your participation turns creativity into tangible support.

And to the collectors who bring these donated works into their homes, thank you for seeing value not only in the art, but in the cause behind it.

If you represent a nonprofit organization and are interested in partnering on a future event, I’d love to start a conversation.
